    Alexander-Ramco VTEC conversion

    The Alexander-Ramco VTEC conversion frame was developed for the classic round nose Mini, and accepts all B-series Honda engines with post 94 transmissions. It is a very compact assembly, with an emphasis on light weight and strength. It will fit all left hand drive Minis with NO wheel base, track, or body extension required. External Appearance remains completely standard and retains the greatest frame-to-ground clearance for this type conversion. The Custom designed header pipe, included, allows the engine to be mounted at the standard angle, which then leaves enough space behind the engine for the standard B16 intake manifold to fit, without cutting a big hole through the bulkhead cross-member or cutting the manifold in half; another exclusive feature. Also, the tube header pipes save 29 pounds over the stock cast iron exhaust manifold and down pipe, while providing a substantial power increase.
    For the frame, we use high-tensile strength,1020 DOM round tubing, welded to the Mini rear half of the sub frame; this way, all the standard Mini suspension, brakes and 10" wheels can be retained, even the very effective, progressive rate, rubber cone springs, thus maintaining the Mini's great handling and low stance, without suspension-bottoming issues associated with Coil-Over systems set at the lower ride heights.
    Ramco offers all the major components necessary to complete the conversion; using your B-series engine and transmission, that includes:
    Conversion sub-frame
    Modified Mini track rods, or optional, light weight, high-strength, adjustable stainless track rods
    Transmission & Engine mounts
    Alternator brackets with tensioner assembly
    Heavy duty 300,000 PSI tensile strength axles
    High-Performance exhaust header assembly
    High efficiency alloy Radiator
    Mini pedal box conversion, includes twin Wilwood master cylinders

    Many of the stock Mini components can be retained when using the Ramco conversion:
    Standard or adjustable suspension
    10" wheels
    Front and rear brakes
    Exterior sheet metal is all retained as standard
    Even the stock Mini shifter can be attached to the Honda tranny shift yoke and brace stud, or just shorten the stock Honda linkage rods.
    The stock B-16 intake manifold, ECU, sensors and wire harness can all be used, as well as the Honda gauge cluster if desired.

    Sub-frame flex, is eliminated with the well triangulated and gusseted tubing design, which includes 4 additional frame-to-body mounting bolt locations and reinforced suspension tower bracing. Another major benefit is a weight savings; up to 90 pounds lighter than other B-series conversions. We strongly believe in reducing weight as much as possible to compensate for the heavier Honda power package, in order to maintain the excellent handling of the original car. Again, due to steering rack clearances, this frame will only fit LEFT-hand drive cars without making major modifications. Right hand drive Minis can easily be converted over to left, as all the mounting holes are pre drilled, from the factory, on both sides of the car.
    We now have a plug-and-play wiring harness for the Honda/Acura engines and ECU, that plugs into the stock Mini loom, and any 92 to 96 Civic, or Integra instrument cluster, or customized for after-market gauges. It includes new fuse boxes, hardware, with all wires and connectors labeled. Price ranges from 550$ to 810$, depending on options selected.

    All components can be ordered individually or in kit form:

    The bare frame, with modified track rods is 1980$, requires your straight, clean, stock sub frame and track rods in exchange. Otherwise, there is a 300$ core charge. We sand blast all frames at no extra charge. But, if we have to de-grease your frame first, there will be a 75$ charge. Minor straightening and repairs are usually done at no extra charge.

    There are 2 main motor/trans mounts and an adjustable rear mount at 430$, (included in “basic” kit price)

    The alternator bracket and tensioning assembly is 215$,(included in “basic” kit price )

    The two piece, high performance design, 4-2-1 merge-collector header runs 490$,(included in “basic” kit).

    Optional, 17-4 stainless steel track rods with rose (Heim) joints are 135$.
    Teflon lined (maintenance free) Heim joints, with higher load ratings, are available as an upgrade over the standard joints at 40$ for the pair.

    High strength (300,000 PSI tensile) axles are equal length and make the best choice for mating your VTEC Honda Differential to the Mini wheel CVs. 350$ for the pair.

    The Mini pedal box conversion requires your standard Mini box, with pedals, for remanufacturing. This bolt-on set-up allows twin Wilwood master cylinders to be mounted under the dash using remotely mounted fluid reservoirs. This system is less than half the price of other pedal box conversions, is light weight and retains the stock pedal appearance; 385$ for the bolt in, pre-adjusted assembly. This box also has an improved pedal ratio which requires less brake pedal pressure. (You won't need a booster servo)

    The all-Aluminum, custom-cored radiator, uses louvered style, high count cooling fins and two rows of extra wide tubes, for maximum cooling in the space available. Price is 390$ and includes 4 rubber padded mounting brackets. Either 9" “Spal” brand pusher, or 10” puller electric fans can be used.
